Beyonce gives good advice

Posted on March 2, 2011 by

“You can be beautiful but if you’re not secure in yourself, you don’t come across as sexy. You have to feel good about yourself to make others feel good about you. Don’t focus on the bits you don’t like. Look at yourself in a different way and work out what it is you do like.”

The man behind Sesame Street’s – “I Love My Hair”

Posted on October 22, 2010 by

I posted this video on my facebook after singer, Tweet, posted it and asked what our thoughts were. I instantly fell in love with it. Never mind how adorable and cathy the song is, but the message behind it was refreshing. There were comments questioning why they only focused on my black hair and I kept thinking, “Why not?” It’s no secret that black women and children have questioned their beauty at some point in their lives because of their hair. I went as far as letting a commenter know that it was probably a black person that wrote this skit. Well, I was somewhat right about the concept, although it wasn’t a black man, it was Sesame Street’s head writer, Joey Mazzarino. He wrote the song for his adopted Ethiopian daughter because he noticed her losing confidence in her beautiful curly locks.

Joey sat down with New York Magazine to explain the concept and reason behind this video. He said all the things I was already thinking and I hope some of those commenters read this.

Gary Coleman’s hospital pictures sold?

Gary Coleman and ex-wife Shannon, hospital pictures

Aparently Gary Coleman’s wife ex-wife and her family were taking photos of him as he laid helpless in a hospital bed. If this site wasn’t pg-13, I would have a few choice words in the place of “ex-wife” and “family” but I’m going to keep it clean.

TMZ reports

Just as we predicted, the pictures of Gary Coleman’s final moments among the living have been sold to a tabloid — but the photo taken after Gary died was not part of the deal … sources tell TMZ.

Sources say three of the four photos — which Gary’s ex-wife Shannon Price orchestrated — may hit stands as early as this week.

One of the photos that sold — Shannon posing next to a bedridden Gary who is riddled with tubes. As we first reported, Shannon will get a cut of the profits.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more disgusted by a story in my life. As I wrote in my previous post about Gary Coleman’s death, I think we all stopped appreciating what he brought to television and I pretty much saw it coming. I really do believe Gary was depressed due to his failed relationships (not just love life, but family and friends). It’s gotta be rough suing your parents. Now, as the person he spent his last moments with to really be blunt enough to take photos (and alledgegly sell them) is beyond me. I can’t even fathom the idea. Really? In the words of Kanye West, how could you be so HEARTLESS?

Side Note: Didn’t Gary leave the room to go downstairs and prepare something for HER to eat? And on his way somehow falling? Hmm, I guess that didn’t mean anything to this creature.
I’m going to cut this short, because there isn’t much else to say. I would hope Karma is alive and well. That is all.

Gary Coleman dies
Gary Colman Dies, TMZ reports

Gary Coleman has died as the result of injuries he suffered earlier this week, the hospital tells TMZ. We’ve learned Gary’s wife, Shannon, made the decision to pull life support early this AM. We’re told Coleman died at 12:05 PM MST. He died of a intracranial hemorrhage. Family members and close friends were at Coleman’s side when life support was pulled. He was 42. As TMZ first reported, Coleman was rushed to a hospital in Utah after he fell and hurt his head. He was on life support since Thursday. There will be a press conference at the hospital at 3:00 PM PT. A rep for Coleman released this statement: “Thanks to everyone for their well wishing and support during this tragic time. Now that Gary has passed, we know he will be missed because of all the love and support shown in the past couple of days. Gary is now at peace and his memory will be kept in the hearts of those who were entertained by him throughout the years.”

When I initially heard the news, although so very sad, I was not surprised. It was just a couple weeks ago that the thought came to my mind that Gary Coleman’s days are very numbered.
