The Stylus Awards is just around the corner and the nominees are gearing up for what may be their big night. The award ceremony was established to recognize, celebrate and honour Canada’s biggest DJs and recording artists; with categories such as, “DJ of the Year,” “Canadian R&B Single of the Year,” “Canadian Hip Hop Single of the Year,” “Fan Choice Artist of the Year,” and more.

With just three days until the show, I caught up with Stylus nominee DJ Cyruss Sanchez to talk about his nomination and more. Ensuring that the public never dismisses house music, DJ Cyruss has created many outlets to broadcast the importance of the genre. As a house DJ, he recognizes and appreciates the sound and for that reason, he’s nominated for “House DJ of the Year.” DJ Cyruss not only lives up to his name, he’s also a remixer, producer and label owner. He’s taking the art of spinning to other levels and his hope is to continue growing.

If you’re unfamiliar with Real Housewives Of Atlanta, then you’re missing out on a lot of entertainment. Cynthia Bailey (RHOA star), is next month’s cover girl for Essence Magazine, showing off her beautiful wedding gown. Her and her husband, Peter Thomas, shared exclusive wedding photos with Essence that will be published in their February issue.

Cynthia and Peter‘s relationship on the show get rocky when issues of money, control and anger get in the way. It seemed the two wouldn’t make it, due to the stress of Peter‘s failing business and their wedding planning. I’m happy the two made it through, it would have been a disaster for Cynthia if it didn’t.

Cynthia sat down with BlackVoices and gave some insight on her marriage, the show and her cast-mates.

Last week MuchMusic made a lot of hip hop fans happy when they re-added RapCity to their line up. The show will air every Thursday at 10 p.m. with its new host, T-Rexxx. Last night’s episode featured an exclusive interview with rapper, Drake and although he is currently in Europe (on tour with J.Cole) the sit down interview was filmed the day before he left.

Kanye West and engineer, Andrew Dawson

I think it’s safe to say that Kanye West had one of, if not the best, album of 2010. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy shows hard work, dedication and pure talent. I’m convinced Kanye is a mad scientist.

Kanye West can’t seem to get through an interview without being asked about Taylor Swift. Kanye has remained adamant that he’s apologetic about cutting Taylor off while she accepted her award at the VMAs to say, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” It seems he’s now in the hot seat, yet again, because in a recent interview with Minnesota radio station KDWB he seemed unapologetic when asked about the 2009 incident and defended his actions. He joked about the backlash he got from the incident, saying, “‘Everything she went through to deserve this one moment.’ That should… that caused her to go off and have 100 magazine covers and sell a million in one week.”
