The Game makes BET history with ratings

Posted on January 12, 2011 by

After the premiere of The Game last night on BET, I tweeted that I only wanted to see the ratings in the morning. I anticipated that it would break records and I was correct. According to Multi Channel News, The Game made history last night scoring 7.7. million viewers, making them the network’s biggest audience to date.

The promotion and buzz around The Game was so large that it comes as no surprise to me that so many people tuned in. I am very happy for the cast and crew of The Game and I hope it continues to be a success. Now, only if BET will consider bringing the sitcom Girlfriends back :p.

The drama on the show started fairly early. In just the first episode, we find out that Kelly and Jason‘s divorce is final and she’s become a changed woman, starring in her own reality tv show. Melanie prematurely tells Derwin his baby isn’t his, after going behind his back and getting a DNA test. We also find out that Tasha and Rick are no longer together and she has replaced him with a much younger man, played by Terrence (of 106 & Park). And lastly, we find out that Malik is still an a**hole, who not only is sleeping with his boss’ girlfriend, played by Meagan Good, but he also sleeps with Tee Tee‘s girlfriend.

What are your thoughts so far? Were you impressed? Disappointed? Will you continue to tune in?

BET’s new sitcom, Let’s Stay Together, which aired directly after The Game, drew in 4.4 million viewers.
